| Timing is everything. Or is it? |
 |
Buy low, sell high, that’s every investor’s dream, right? Not exactly. “Timing the market” may appear attractive initially. But in the long run, it has not proved to be a sound investment strategy. Simply put, market timing is attempting to predict future price movements through the use of various fundamental and analysis tools. Instead of maintaining a well diversified stock portfolio, market timers tend to hold on to their stocks for short intervals, seeking to turn them over at the first opportunity for a profit.
Unfortunately, stock prices do not always move for the most logical or easily predictable reasons. Furthermore, unexpected events can send a stock’s price up or down drastically. The current spiraling of oil prices and its effect on the stock market is a perfect example.
Investing in stocks is not gambling. The best strategy should take into account your short-term financial needs as well as long-term retirement goals. Your stock portfolio needs to be appropriately diversified to assure that these important objectives are met.

Mention Caribbean destinations and what comes to mind? Aruba? Martinique? What if we add 185 miles of barrier reef, a paradise for divers and snorkelers? But that’s not all – on land there are magnificent Mayan ruins, well-preserved rainforest and a subtropical climate. Welcome to Belize, the hidden gem of the Western Caribbean, bordering Mexico and Guatemala. As any of its 200,000 natives will tell you, anonymity is part of Belize’s charm. Unlike other more popular (and congested) Caribbean tourist attractions, Belize is largely undiscovered. Adventurers can go diving, snorkeling, fishing, hiking, caving, kayaking, birding and exploring national parks and sanctuaries; those looking to escape can head to jungle lodges or tranquil beachfront getaways. With regular flights from most major American cities, Belize is a hop, skip and a jump for your next family vacation.
